Philips and Lite-On introduce first External Blu-Ray Drive

liteonbdextern Philips and Lite-On introduce first External Blu-Ray Drive

After the hi-def format war is officially over in favor of Sony’s Blu-Ray format, those with Media Center PCs and laptops can now buy the winning technology with comfort. Considering the blu-ray’s victory, Philips and Lite-on are introducing an external blu-ray drive in the Q2-2008. This is a great option for people who want to bring blu-ray HD movies to their home theater without opening their today’s compact PC cases. The internal blu-ray drive is already available from lite-on for $150. In the wake of blu-ray’s victory, I expect to see a sharp rise in the number of movie releases on BD format.
