Orbitsound rolls out tube-based T6 iPod dock

The new Orbitsound T6 iPod docking system is supposed to produce a fuller, warmer sound than regular speakers through a ’single point stereo’ sound system (of a single, smallish speaker). The Orbitsound T6 uses triode valve (or tube) amplifiers and (in combination with its patented AirSOUND technology) creates a balanced sound field throughout the room. This is a kind-of back to the future type of application for sound technology — encoding regular left-and right stereo with spatial signal information, the direct signal is pushed out from the front firing driver and the spatial information from smaller side firing transducers. Then, both signals are supposed to combine in the air to create a single, full stereo sound.
