AMD on Monday catered to multi-display power users by launching the FirePro 2450. The board is one of the few small, slim video cards to support four displays and can attach as many as four DVI or VGA displays at once, even at 1920×1200 resolution. AMD considers it an option for stock market trackers and others who need as many screens as possible without the space or cost requirements of multiple video cards.
The card is also relatively low-power and peaks at 32W under a heavy load, dropping to 17W in typical 2D-only conditions. As with other parts in AMD’s more modern line, the 2450 also supports DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 2.1 visual effects. A single version of the new FirePro ships today with 512MB of memory for $499; official support requires Windows.
